A young man full of life, Kevin Mara Lapena is a well-rounded achiever - an athlete, TV host, actor and most recently a Travel Life Magazine writer. Awesome as he already is, he is also into fitness venturing in different physical activities and his sport of choice is triathlon. He is kind and well-loved by many.

Kevin Mara Lapena, a fitness advocate and an inspiration to the youth.

On July 16, 2016, a freak accident changed his life. On that fateful Saturday morning, while training on a bike for an upcoming triathlon competition, Kevin avoided a truck which came out of nowhere and hit the pavement hard, causing him jaw and shoulder injuries that needed surgery. As elaborated by musician Tinnie Esguerra on the fundraising site created by Monchie Henares, at youcaring.com -- "He was speeding downhill when a truck suddenly appeared out of nowhere, causing him to lose control, thus hitting the pavement horrendously hard. We're thankful that he was able to steer clear of the truck, which could've let to more disastrous consequences,"

Kevin is known to many as the son of Vicky and Pete Lapena, who has a good following of musicians and music lovers flocking to their home in Paranaque. Pete's Place Musicroom, as it is aptly called, has been a second home to a lot of their friends since 1983. Pete's close circle of regular jammers at the music room took it upon themselves to help augment financial needs for Kevin's hospital and medical expenses.

"We know that he (Pete) would never want to blow his own horn, but just to give you an idea of the man's generosity, he has spearheaded some fund-raising gigs for some friends in dire need, as well as other charitable causes we deem worthy of our support," added Esguerra.

Aside from the youcaring.com fund-raising site he put up, Henares, who is also a vocalist of Pete's Place House Band, is spearheading a fundraising show together with music jamming friends Rick Trinidad and Richard Parcia.  The event will be a night full of music, good company and also a celebration of friendship, packaged with a worthy cause.
