November is the month of international beauty pageants, and two of the Philippines' reigning beauty queens are setting their sights on bringing home global crowns.

To further boost their confidence, and receive the full support of well-wishers, a send-off event was recently held in honor of Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann, and Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas Winwyn Marquez, at Annabel's restaurant in Quezon City.

"I want to bring the crown home, and make my country proud," said Lehmann. "I want to be known as someone who did her best no matter the outcome. So laban lang."

This court side sports commentator uses her background to challenge herself, and be competitive throughout her Miss World journey.  Her positive attitude, she believes, is what would make her face the challenges when pitted against other beauty queens at the Miss World 2017 pageant in China. Laura leaves for Guangzhou, China on October 20, 2017.  Coronation night will be held on November 18, 2017 at the Sanya City Arena.

Miss Reina Hispanoamericana Filipina title holder Winwyn Marquez, is the first Asian contestant to join the pageant to be held this year in Bolivia. She leaves a day ahead of Lehmann, with a layover in New York.  The Miss Reina Hispanoamericana pagaent will be held on November 4, 2017 at the Salon Sirionodela Feria Exposicion in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

"This is a challenge for me because it's a land of beautiful and talented Latinas," revealed Marquez. "But my determination, and the heart to bring honor to my country is what I carry with me." To the delight of the audience, she added, "So I hope I will be a "winwyn" there, but I will be using my first name Teresita to lessen the pressure."

Miss World Philippines National Director Arnold Vegafria believes that both of them have what it takes to sustain the Filipina's winning streak in the global pageant scene.

"This is the era of the Filipina beauty, and everyone can see Laura's and Wynwyn's winning attitude. They're both very articulate and outspoken, and very mindful of their unique cultural heritage, but more than that, they're both driven with their burning passions for their own noble advocacies, which are crucial towards making a better impact among the judges," Vegafria asserts.
